Today it is called Alasehir located 30 miles southeast of Sardis.The name Philedelphia means ‘love between brothers’.No archaeological evidance for a synagogue has been found in the city.However a 3C AD inscription was found 10 miles east of Philedelphia mentioning a ‘synagogue of the Hebrews’.Like Thyatira,it is overbuilt by a modern city and  the only Christian remains in the city are arches of 6 C AD Byzantine church.

The town Alasehir is still very famous with vineyards,like in ancient times.

In Revelation St. John writes ;

…… I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars—I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you. ….
