The city was located about 22 miles southwest of Iconium.It was quite a small town with a population of about 3,000.St Paul and Barnabas visited the town during their first journey.After a crippled man was healed at the city gates ,the crowd believed that their local patron deity Zeus and his Messenger Hermes had visited them in human form,so they shouted accolades to them in the Lycaonian language (Acts 14:8—12).

Not so much excavations have been applied in the site like Colossea.
